The orchestra-in-residence is the West Catholic Sinfonia–a full symphony orchestra including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

Repertoire styles include classical, folk and jazz. These courses requires an additional Music Fee of $150.
Choice of Musical Instrument
The Orchestra instruments include strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The choice of musical instrument is determined by the needs of the symphony orchestra along with the student's interests. Study of a particular instrument is for the duration of the 2008/2009 academic year.
Music Theory, Ear Training, & Music Appreciation
Music Theory, Ear Training, and Music Appreciation assignments constitute 20% of the quarterly grade. Late assignments and homework will not be accepted. Make-ups will not be given for any in-class or homework assignment missed due to an unexcused absence.
Private Instrumental Music Lessons
West Catholic Sinfonia members will receive Private instrumental Music Lessons. These one-on-one lessons constitute 35% of the quarterly grade. Grading of the lessons is based on lesson attendance and the week-to-week progress. All private lessons (up to 20 per academic year) will occur on the premises of West Catholic Conservatory during school hours: Periods 3-8.
Orchestra Rehearsals
Orchestra Rehearsals & Class Participation constitute 45% of the quarterly grade. Unexcused tardiness will garner a 50% deduction of the daily grade. Unexcused absences will garner a 100% deduction of the daily grade. Students not demonstrating proper class participation will garner a deduction of the daily grade.
