About

Since 1916, West Philadelphia Catholic High School has enjoyed a history of musical excellence in a variety of ensembles, including orchestra, symphonic band, choir, pep band, glee club, chamber music, and harp ensemble.

Achievements of this rigorous curriculum included not only the local reputation as the most distinguished high school music program in Philadelphia, but also performances under Arthur Fiedler at the Academy of Music and Pierre Monteux at the Tanglewood Music Festival (MA).

The West Catholic Conservatory (WCC) is sponsored by the Friends of West Catholic and is included in the academic offerings at the West Philadelphia Catholic High School.

The goal and mission of the West Catholic Conservatory is to provide a music program for the students of West Catholic that:

  • Enriches and enhances their education
  • Develops their appreciation for music
  • Leads to a lifelong avocation or occupation

Providing a curriculum that includes both Orchestra and Choir, Founder & Director Dr. Stephen Framil and the faculty hold music performance and education degrees from the top conservatories and music school around the world.
